Prof. Hakeem Musata Oluseyi

Tougaloo College BS (Physics & Mathematics); Stanford MS & PhD (Physics). Prof. Oluseyi is an astrophysicist, author, inventor, and senior STEM leader who has operated at the intersection of top-tier research, national programs, and mass-media science communication. He served as a MLK Visiting Professor at MIT (2014–2015), sponsored by Sara Seager in MIT Physics. He is the author of A Quantum Life: My Unlikely Journey from the Street to the Stars, named a Kirkus Reviews “Best Books of the Year” selection.

He held faculty appointments as a Distinguished Research Professor at the Florida Institute of Technology (Physics & Space Sciences) and was stationed at NASA Headquarters as Space Sciences Education Manager for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. He is the CEO of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific.

He is a high-visibility on-air expert across Science Channel and Discovery/Discovery International, with recurring appearances associated with series such as How the Universe Works and Outrageous Acts of Science (among others). He co-hosts Roddenberry Entertainment’s Does It Fly? and hosts NOVA/GBH’s video podcast Particles of Thought, bringing working-scientist credibility to pop-culture physics and long-form interviews with leading researchers.
